Stearns and Foster Kearsley

From Ronald –
I was looking at a Stearns and Foster King “Kearsley” model at a retailer. Loved the feel of the mattress BUT I can’t find any information on this model. I’m a smart consumer who does his homework. What can you tell me about this model mattress. How old is this model and where does it rate in the consumer index. I’ve owned Stearns and Foster mattresses most of my life, but this model is very unknown to me.

Hi Ronald,
The Stearns & Foster Kearsley is in their Estate collection, which is the higher-end model that uses the Inteli-Coil, coil inside of coil individually pocketed design. S&F has not released the Estate collection to any online retailer yet and they are currently only in brick and mortar retail stores and that is why you cannot find any information about that model on our website. We currently only have access to the Core collection, the entry level S&F models with a single individually pocketed coil. As far as feel, the closest match on our site would be the Wethersfield, but again, the coil structure is different and I would recommend trying a Core collection model in a local store in your area before making the decision due to the different construction.

  1. Too late for the above case but in the case of anyone else coming across this page, I recommend the Kearsley for those who want a greater degree of softness and give than what the other models in the Estate collection offer. We recently purchased the Maplevale (also known as the Lucas Park), and it’s too firm for us. We are arranging with the local dealer to have it exchanged for the Kearsley.

Regardless of which mattress you choose from S&F, you cannot go wrong, IMO. These are among the best mattresses money can buy.

  2. Just bought the Kearsley tonite- I was impressed and more so by the fact that they had some over stock and sold it to me for a discounted price- I searched thru the Serta’s and Sealy’s and found nothing but unhappy buyers and expensive price tags… i have only 1 income and cant afford the expense only to have to buy again in another year or so… cant wait to get it home and go to sleep… i have had the sleep number bed for so long and my body aches the air pump stopped working about 6 months after the purchase and the bed just went down hill from there… DONT BUY ONE! Looking forward to the comfort and luxury.

    • Hi D,

Just checking, how is your experience now with the Stearns & Foster Kearsley mattress? I am thinking of buying one but cautious now after reading many negative reviews on Stearns & Foster mattresses sagging within only a few months.

      Thanks,
      Bill

  3. My husband and I just bought a Stearns and Foster, Kearsley Firm Mattress from their Estate Collection. After sleeping on a Sleep Number bed for the last month, my first night on the Kearsley mattress was the best nights sleep I’ve had in so long. Only time will tell for sure, but I think we made a good choice.

  4. DO NOT BUY THE S&F ESTATE KEARSLEY! My husband and I bought this bed and had it delivered. The day it was delivered, I went to get into the bed on my side and the side gave out. The next day, there was a huge lump sticking out of the side of the bed. We called the company that we bought this mattress from and they gave us a hard time. Finally I called their corporate office and they sent out a mattress inspector free of charge and eventually replaced the mattress. We’re now a week and a half into the replacement mattress and the same thing is happening! I called the company once again and spoke with the customer service manager. He wants to replace the mattress again and if there’s an issue then we can go look at other mattresses. I spoke with him further and we both decided that it would be beneficial for us to just go look at other mattresses and skip replacing the Kearsley again. The second mattress that we got was comfortable until the side bowed out again. We are really disappointed. I hope the rest of you don’t have this issue, but it seems to be a known issue with this mattress.

  5. I bought a Stearns and Foster Kearsley and I can’t sleep on it because of the strong outgassing chemical smell from the mattress…I was told by the mattress store to leave the windows open and put boxes of baking soda under the bed…is anyone else seeing this problem? Anyone know what the chemical smell is coming from the mattress?
I’m sleeping in the spare bedroom as the mattress store says they can’t consider replacing it (I have to pay a 10% restocking fee + delivery costs)for 30 days. They consider it a “comfort” issue not a health issue..I beg to differ…advice??

    • Hey guys….since I last made my post, I did tons more research and ended up finding a mattress that my wife and I are in love with…it’s made by Essentia. Do a search for it on Google and do some research on it….I think you will find it does everything you want (plus it contains non-toxic ingredients, whereas most other manufacturer’s do not). Enjoy.

  7. thanks for the input brenda, and i know about the 100 day guarantee and that is a great offer for mattress purchasers since a mattress does need to be tried out for awhile to know for sure if it’s what people want. but the weight on our shoulders is finally over brenda. earlier today, we ended up purchasing the “abbey lynn” at mattress firm. this mattress started out way out of our price range but the salesman and myself finally reached an agreement price in our budget. it sounds like the abbey lynn is at least on the high end of the estate series. i hope it is and we hope to god we picked a good one that will last a long time and that we made the right choice. Im guessing your educated about mattresses brenda ? so what’s your opinion on the abby lynn, did we make a wise choice ?……….Greg

    • Hi Greg,

We don’t carry the Abby Lynn, so I can’t speak on it specifically, but we hear great things about Stearns and Foster from our customers so I’m sure you made a great choice.

  8. We bought this mattress just under 2 years ago. We loved it for the first year + but hav come to find my husband’s side has really lost its firmness and is impossible for him to sleep on (he’s always had a bad back). The middle where we cuddle is totally indented – it’s such a shame as we loved it. Hoping to get it replaced.
