Hotel Mattress

December 6, 2010

From Jason-

Wanted to check if you offer or know the type of Serta mattress offered through the guest program for the Golden Nugget NV resort.

Hello Jason,

We do sell Serta’s hotel collection on our website. However, Serta does not provide us info as to which model is used at the Golden Nugget resort.
I have provided the link to the Serta Hotel Section on our website. It is separated by 3 Star, 4 Star, and 5 Star quality.
I am guessing the Golden Nugget would either be 4 Star or 5 Star quality.

Stearns & Foster St. Elizabeth

December 1, 2010

From Patti-

We recently started searching for a new king mattress set. A local clearance center has a floor model of a S&F “St. Elizabeth” that we liked very much.
We are a bit overwhelmed in this great sea of mattresses. Been to a few stores – now a bit more confused. Then, I was glad to find your blog and site.
The St. Elizabeth is obviously a discontinued model. What information/specs do you know about this model?
Also, are there any current mattresses that would compare to this one?

Hello Patti,
To add to the confusion of mattresses, all stores have different names for the mattresses to make it difficult for you to comparison shop. So the name “St. Elizabeth” you found at the local clearance store, is not a name we ever had for the models offered to us by Stearns & Foster. I am not sure what model, or name that was under when or if we sold it.
Stearns & Foster have come out with a totally new line of mattresses starting in 2010, unlike anything they have ever made before. The biggest change is the coil system. For the past 50 years they have specialized in a “continuous” coil unit, in which all the coils were attached to each other. Now, they have introduced an individually wrapped coil unit, in which they all work independently of one another, which is great for motion separation and pressure relief. Simmons Beautyrest is the original creator of this type of coil.
If you visit some local stores that carry current models, our Sales People are more than happy to assist with the cross reference of them to the models we sell.

Thank you and Good Luck mattress shopping!

I moved from another country and I do not find a mattress for the size of my bed. I wonder if you have any custom made mattresses that fit the measurements of my bed. 63\”x75\” (160cm x 190cm)?

Measurements on a Sealy Reserve Akerman Ultra Plush

November 15, 2010

From Stephanie-
I was considering the Sealy “RESERVE” Akerman Ultra Plush Euro PillowTop Queen sized mattress. However, in the information section, the size is shown as 75L X 60W. Is this correct? I thought a standard queen was 80 X 60.

Hello Stephanie,
You are correct, that is a typo. We try our best to have the correct information on all our web pages. The correct dimensions are, 60″ W and 80″ L.

Serta Mattress Match

November 11, 2010

Frome Ilene-
It seems like your serta perfect sleeper charmer pillow soft is the same as sleepy’s colin plush , except for their bed is listed as being 13 inches high and yours is listed as 12 inches. Is this the same model?

Hello Ilene,
I do believe you are correct, the City Charmer Pillowsoft and the Colin Plush appear to be the same mattress.
In terms of the depth of the mattress, it could be a variance based on whether foam layers and the coil height are being added together vs. actually measuring the mattress itself. We measure all of our mattresses for accuracy. Adding the foam layers up and adding it to the height of the coil spring is not an accurate height, because the foams become compressed once inside the mattress.

Michigan Humane Society Mega March 2010

October 4, 2010

MHS Mega March 2010
Yesterday was a cold Fall morning in downtown Detroit, but that was not going to stop us from taking part in the annual Michigan Humane Society Mega March in downtown Detroit. Thousands of people came out and enough funds are going to be raised so that many animals will find great homes.
MHS Mega March 2010

We had a great time walking around the city, seeing all the different kinds of dogs and most importantly supporting such a great cause. We take part in this event every year and we are proud of our partnership with Michigan Humane Society.
MHS Mega March 2010

The human and dog watering stations were fun to see as well as the dogs getting excited around each other and at the site of puddles and fountains. Check out our photos from this great event. Visit the Michigan Humane Society website and learn how you can help make a difference.

Simmons Edgewood

September 23, 2010

From Vernon-

I tried out a Simmons Edgewood at Ashley Furniture. What would be the comparison on your site?

Hello, Vernon

I have located the Simmons Beautyrest Eaglewood on Ashley Furniture’s website.

They do not give a complete list of specs like we do, but based on the info and photo provided, it looks to be most similar to our
Simmons Beautyrest Bergen.

Mattress Comparison Sealy from Mattress Firm

September 14, 2010

From Danny-

I am looking at a Sealy Posturepedic Natural Beginnings Ultra Plush from Mattress Firm. The number comparisons kind of lead to the Akerman ultra plush, but I am concerned it might be too soft.  I get that the difference in the natural is the bamboo covering.  I am also wondering about the reference to rayon in the specs of the Natural Beginnings Ultra Plush and to heat issues associated with manufactured fibers.

Helllo Danny,

Everybody is different and some people are more Sensitive to synthetic foams than others. Unfortunately I can not tell you if you are one of these people, you would need to know this yourself.
If you are concerned the Ultra Plush may possibly be too soft for you, then you could purchase the Plush. A mattress will soften up over time, AND if a mattress is not soft enough for you it is easy to manipulate the mattress by adding a topper to it. If the mattress is too soft, there is nothing you can do to make it firmer.

1st Annual US-Mattress/Furniture Crate Golf Scramble

June 14, 2010

Golf Scramble
On Saturday we had our first annual US-Mattress/Furniture Crate Golf Scramble at Fox Hills Country Club in Plymouth. It was a great success! Scattered thunderstorms were in the forecast, but it ended up being beautiful the whole time and some of us even went home with a good tan (or sunburn). There were eight teams of four, with some more seasoned players showing up, setting the bar high as far as skill level is concerned. All of this could not of happened without the support of some of our best suppliers: Sealy, Simmons, Serta, Fashion Bed Group, Berkline, Klaussner, Wolf and Eco-Sleep.

Golf Scramble
Winners for the longest drive, closest to the pin and other contests were given great prizes. Everyone did go home with some kind of raffle prize and giveaway. This outing, with groups working together, showed how well we work as a team. Some of the highlights were: Winning team won with a score of five under par (-5) and one of our employees had both the longest drive for women and the straightest drive!

Checkout all the photos from this great event. We can’t wait for next year!

Thread Count. What is that?

June 13, 2010

Threat Count. What is that?
When your actively shopping for bedding you hear this and that about thread count and you wonder “What is it?”. Simply put, thread count is the number of threads horizontally and vertically in one square inch of fabric. The higher the needed thread count, the more finer threads that need to be used which leads to a softer and smoother texture and feel. Check out some more of our thoughts on thread count in Thread Count: By the Numbers.

Larger thread counts do cost more, but ultimately it’s the softness and comfort you want to look for, not how high the thread count is. You can find additional things we suggest you look for when shopping for bedding other than thread count in More to the Equation – Understanding Bedding Beyond Thread Count.

By considering everything you will be on your way to sleeping in comfort every night.
