From Patti-
We recently started searching for a new king mattress set. A local clearance center has a floor model of a S&F “St. Elizabeth” that we liked very much.
We are a bit overwhelmed in this great sea of mattresses. Been to a few stores – now a bit more confused. Then, I was glad to find your blog and site.
The St. Elizabeth is obviously a discontinued model. What information/specs do you know about this model?
Also, are there any current mattresses that would compare to this one?
Hello Patti,
To add to the confusion of mattresses, all stores have different names for the mattresses to make it difficult for you to comparison shop. So the name “St. Elizabeth” you found at the local clearance store, is not a name we ever had for the models offered to us by Stearns & Foster. I am not sure what model, or name that was under when or if we sold it.
Stearns & Foster have come out with a totally new line of mattresses starting in 2010, unlike anything they have ever made before. The biggest change is the coil system. For the past 50 years they have specialized in a “continuous” coil unit, in which all the coils were attached to each other. Now, they have introduced an individually wrapped coil unit, in which they all work independently of one another, which is great for motion separation and pressure relief. Simmons Beautyrest is the original creator of this type of coil.
If you visit some local stores that carry current models, our Sales People are more than happy to assist with the cross reference of them to the models we sell.
Thank you and Good Luck mattress shopping!
