Sterns and Foster Duval Street

June 28, 2010

From Nick-
We have been looking at a stearns foster mattress at a local retailer. However, like all mattresses, they name them differently.  One is a Duval Street Luxury Plush; the other is a Franklin Park Luxury Plush.  Both of these “plush” models look like pillow tops.

Hi Nick,
The Duval Street is Stearns & Fosters’ level “J” and the Franklin Park is the level “L”.  Our names for those models will be the Robson Street and Princes Street.

Alex Bay Mattress Match

June 21, 2010

From Dana -
I’m looking for the ‘Alex Bay/firm World Class by Simmons Beautyrest’. Mattress and box spring. Haven’t seen it on your site. Do you have it? Is it discontinued?

Hi Dana,
The name “Alex Bay” that you provided to us does cross reference over to being the exact match to what we have named the “Corita” in the Simmons Beautyrest World Class line. The Corita does come in multiple comfort levels and has 3 different firms to choose from (extra firm, luxury firm, or plush firm).

Mattresses without Wool

June 17, 2010

From Jennifer -
Can you please tell me which mattresses don’t have wool in any of the materials?

Hi Jennifer,
All mattresses manufactured from Stearns & Foster will either have a silk/wool blend for the knitting material or a silk/cashmere blend. To not include any wool, you would need to look into a Simmons Beautyrest mattress that has the “Evenloft” technology, which would be in their NXG line or upper end Beautyrest Natural Care mattresses.

Golden Elegance Mattress Match

June 16, 2010

From Crystal -
I would love to purchase a mattress set from your website immediately. The mattress set I am interested in is the Stearns and Foster Golden Elegance mattress in a King (76 x 80). I’ve seen it on your Durability Chart, but I can’t locate it on the website to purchase. I’m not sure all the comfort levels it comes in, but a luxury plush euro pillowtop or something like that in this line would be ideal. We tried it out at a retail store, but it was priced over retail value so we went to the Internet. I hope you can get back to me before your promotions are over tomorrow so we can purchase a mattress.

Hi Crystal,
Unfortunately, the Golden Elegance from S&F was part of their 2008-2009 model line and has been discontinued. The new 2010 S&F line came out about 4 months ago and they now use an individually wrapped coil, not a linked coil like they previously used. The softest one that we currently have available will be the S&F Princes Street Luxury Plush Euro Pillow Top mattress set, rated an 8 on our comfort scale.

1st Annual US-Mattress/Furniture Crate Golf Scramble

June 14, 2010

Golf Scramble
On Saturday we had our first annual US-Mattress/Furniture Crate Golf Scramble at Fox Hills Country Club in Plymouth. It was a great success! Scattered thunderstorms were in the forecast, but it ended up being beautiful the whole time and some of us even went home with a good tan (or sunburn). There were eight teams of four, with some more seasoned players showing up, setting the bar high as far as skill level is concerned. All of this could not of happened without the support of some of our best suppliers: Sealy, Simmons, Serta, Fashion Bed Group, Berkline, Klaussner, Wolf and Eco-Sleep.

Golf Scramble
Winners for the longest drive, closest to the pin and other contests were given great prizes. Everyone did go home with some kind of raffle prize and giveaway. This outing, with groups working together, showed how well we work as a team. Some of the highlights were: Winning team won with a score of five under par (-5) and one of our employees had both the longest drive for women and the straightest drive!

Checkout all the photos from this great event. We can’t wait for next year!

Thread Count. What is that?

June 13, 2010

Threat Count. What is that?
When your actively shopping for bedding you hear this and that about thread count and you wonder “What is it?”. Simply put, thread count is the number of threads horizontally and vertically in one square inch of fabric. The higher the needed thread count, the more finer threads that need to be used which leads to a softer and smoother texture and feel. Check out some more of our thoughts on thread count in Thread Count: By the Numbers.

Larger thread counts do cost more, but ultimately it’s the softness and comfort you want to look for, not how high the thread count is. You can find additional things we suggest you look for when shopping for bedding other than thread count in More to the Equation – Understanding Bedding Beyond Thread Count.

By considering everything you will be on your way to sleeping in comfort every night.

Taking care of your Mattress.

June 6, 2010

Taking care of your mattress.
Mattresses are like furniture in the house, they get dusty, they’ll get stains, it’s a given, not to mention bed bugs too. The question then becomes “How do I care for my mattress?” Check out some of the our tips, including purchasing a mattress pad, cover, protector or topper. Make sure it is washable and easy to get on and off mattress.

We also recommend vacuuming as the only method of cleaning. If you have a stain, use mild soap with cold water applying lightly. Don’t ever soak a mattress and don’t use a dry cleaning fluid. This could damage some of the upholstery and comfort materials.

Check out more details on the above tips and more at about.com and The Better Sleep Council.

Also checkout the following video on how to clean your mattress using the baking soda method, showing also how to properly vacuum.
