English Meadow and the Hearthstone Mattresses

May 31, 2010

Can you tell me another name for the Stearns & Foster “English Meadow” sold by Macy’s or the “Hearthstone” from Sears?

Hi Jennifer,
The English Meadow and the Hearthstone are the exact same mattress as our Wethersfield, the level “H” in S&F’s current Core line.

Twin Mattress for heavyset person

May 30, 2010

From Carolyn -
I am going to buy a twin mattress for a 425 lb. person. I need an opinion on which one to buy. Can you suggest something?

Hi Carolyn,
You will need to look for a firmer mattress with an excellent coil system, I would say a comfort scale of 5 or below. The most common one that we sell for situations like this is the Sealy “Signature” Greenhurst Firm, which has a comfort scale of 2.5. That specific mattress will offer the highest coil count that Sealy offers for many years of durable support.

Deciding between Greenhurst & Kirkhaven

May 29, 2010

From Yuriy -
Hi, I am trying to decide between the Greenhurst Luxury Plush Euro Pillow Top, the Greenhurst Ltd. Luxury Plush Euro Pillow Top, and the Kirkhaven Luxury Plush Euro Pillow top. The comfort scale ratings for the mattresses are similar, yet they are made of different foam materials and the reviews seem to have different opinions on them. For example, the greenhurst ltd. uses more softer foam than the regular greenhurst, yet the comfort scale rating is the same at 6.5, and the reviews of the ltd seem to suggest it is softer than expected. I wish I knew the exact name of these mattresses at sleepy’s so I can try them. Any advice on choosing one of these three?

Hi Yuriy,
It is sometimes easier for our customer’s to start out by visiting the local mattress retail stores, lay on some different Sealy models and get the names of the one’s you really like. You can call us with that info and we can help you figure out the same model on our website.
In regards to your questions about these different models and customer reviews. Every person is different and has a personal perception of the comfort scale and how a mattress “should” feel. These models being pillowtops, can very well be way too soft for a lot of people, especially stomach or back sleepers.
The main difference in the foams between the Greenhurst Ltd. and Non-Limited pillowtop models is the Ltd. model has an 1 1/2″ of memory foam in the surface. This firms it up a tad, and not everyone likes memory foam.

Firm Mattress for Back Pain

May 28, 2010

From Daphne -
I would like to buy a Sealy or Simmons king size mattress. I have serious back pain, I need a firm mattress with back support but I don’t know which one is good. Could you please recommend both Sealy or Simmons very good firm mattress for me please.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Daphne,
Sealy and Simmons both make very good mattresses that will provide years of support and comfort. If you wish to have a Simmons with it’s individually pocketed coil system, then my best recommendation would be the Corita Extra Firm. If you wish to have a Sealy with it’s linked coil system, then the Greenhurst Firm would be an excellent choice. Both of these mattresses are high in quality and come with 10 year manufacturer’s warranty. The Simmons will provide you with more motion separation, meaning you will not feel the person next to you tossing at night. The Sealy’s linked coil system will be a more rigid support system as they are less flexible than the individually pocketed coil but is more conducive to back support. Please feel free to contact me or any of our reps here with any questions that you may have.

Firm Mattress Advice

May 25, 2010

From Beth -
I am in need of a new mattress and would like your opinion about two that you sell: Stearns & Foster Robson Street Luxury Firm Queen and Simmons Beautyrest World Class Monrovia Latex Plus-Firm. Like a firm mattress, and would love not to roll into the middle at the same time my husband does! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Beth,
Both mattresses that you have chosen are very high in quality and durability. Both Simmons and Stearns & Foster are constructed using an individually wrapped coil system, with Simmons being superior due to it being a pocketed coil as opposed to just a wrapped coil. The pocketed coil from Simmons is a pre-compressed coil that is non-tempered steel making it have less rigidity to conform to your body better. The S&F mattress does however have the advantage of Visco Memory Foam which will provide added pressure point relief if you are a side sleeper. The latex foam in the Monrovia will add to the overall durability of the mattress as latex is the most resilient foam used today. The Simmons Monrovia is rated at a 5 on our comfort scale, so it will be more plush than the S&F Robson Street, rated at a 3.5. So if you are looking for a firmer mattress with slight cushion, the S&F Robson Street would be the better choice. If you are looking for a plusher mattress with a very firm coil/support system below, then the Simmons Monrovia would be the better option for your needs and preferences.

Body Impressions and Mattresses

May 19, 2010

From Virginio -

Interested in the Sealy Tucson Teal Firm Mattress. One review says it develops “Body Holes”. Is this true? If so How would a person like myself that lives in Central Florida be able to get warranty action?? (Repair; Replacement etc.)

Hi Virginio,

All mattresses, actually all products that use foam padding, will have conforming aspects as the foams break in from their new stage, similar to a pair of shoes that breaks in and becomes comfortable throughout use. If you were to experience a body impression of 1.5” or greater, then Sealy determines that is a warranty issue and will replace the mattress under their warranty. Once you purchase the mattress, you would come to us for beginning a warranty claim

From Patricia -
I am trying to find the Simmons Pillowtop Madrid. Don’t find it on the pictures.

Hi Patricia,

The name Madrid that you found at another store is the exact match to our Gabarone, the Beautyrest Classic model that uses a full layer of Visco Memory Foam.

What Simmons mattresses that you carry are comparable to Mattress Firm’s Fernhook Falls Plush & Fernhook Falls Pillow Top?

Hi Frank,
The match that we currently offer to the “Fernhook Falls” will be the “Bamako” at our store.
