Sealy PosturePedic Glen Marie

April 30, 2010

From Patti -
Do you carry the PP Glen Marie 1 sided ultra plush euro pillowtop cal king mattress and box springs?

Hi Patti,
The Glen Marie from Sealy PosturePedic is a Level 9 “Reserve” model, and at our store, that model is called the Akerman Ultra Plush Euro Pillow Top.

Macy’s English Meadows Mattress

April 29, 2010

From Tommy -
Macy’s had this mattress Stearns & Foster "English Meadows" Luxury Firm Mattress Set. We tested it and really fell in love with this mattress. However, we cannot find the same model here. Can you please help?

Hi Tommy,
As you have probably found out, most retail stores will carry the same mattress just under a different name, provided it is in the same line from the manufacturer. The “English Meadows” is in the Stearns & Foster Core Collection, which is the one collection that we do carry from S&F. The English Meadows is the exact same as the mattress that we have named the Wethersfield.

Sealy “Reserve” Seaview Pines

April 28, 2010

From Jamie -
So what would be the US Mattress equivalent to the Mattress Firm Sealy
“Reserve” SeaView Pillow Top?

Hi Jamie,
The Sealy “Reserve” Seaview Pines would be the same as our Sealy “Reserve” Akerman. The “Reserve” line does not currently have a model just named the Seaview without the Pines portion. If the mattress was named just the Seaview, then it would be the match to our Sealy “Preferred” Bryant Park which currently is only offered in a Firm comfort level, not a Pillow Top.

New Stearns and Foster Line Up

April 27, 2010

From Satyadev,
I have a Stearns and Foster mattress purchased in 2005 called Rose Mist. Can you please tell me which current model matches most closely with the mattress I have?

Hi Satyadev,
The new Stearns & Foster lines, which came out about 9 months ago, are a complete redesign from any previous S&F mattress that has ever been produced. Rather than using a linked coil system as they always have in the past, they are now using an individually pocketed coil system similar to a Simmons Beautyrest mattress. Due to the redesign and completely different coil system, there are no cross references from previously discontinued models and the feel/support will be very different. To find a S&F mattress that you like in the current lines offered, you would be better to test some out in a local showroom in your area first and then go back to online shopping for better pricing and promotions.

Serta Skyline and Advice

April 26, 2010

From Michael -
I went to a nearby store and really liked the Serta Skyline (probably your Reawaken Firm). Of course your price is so much better!

Anyway, there was also a Vera Wang Firm that was just a little less. Any feedback or recommendations?

Also, for my second bedroom mattress, I love the one I have now but 14 years old mattress. I can contact serta, of course, but if I send you the info on it, any way you can “match it up” with a current version

I haven’t been to a showroom but keep hearing how fantastic Stearns and Foster is?

Hi Michael,
If the Vera Wang model doesn’t feel much more comfortable to you, I would stick with the Perfect Day.
The Perfect Day line has a more superior coil system and will last longer than the Vera Wang.

In regards to the 14 year old Serta mattress in your spare bedroom, there would not be a current comparable model.
The mattress industry is extremely innovative, and many changes have been made to the Serta line over the last 14 years.
Most consumers will put a Plush comfort in their spare room for a neutral compromise. Depending on how often it will be used, you could do either a Sertapedic (most affordable) or an entry level Perfect Sleeper (10 yr. warranty).
Serta plush actually uses the term “pillowsoft” .

Purchasing Spit Box Springs

April 25, 2010

From Judy -
I am interested in purchasing a mattress and box spring but need a split queen box spring – do you offer split box springs?

Hi Judy,
We do offer a split queen box spring as a special order item with any of our queen size mattress sets. There is an additional cost of $100 for the split foundation and you would need to place the order over the phone with any of our reps since that foundation option is not listed online.

Sealy Glen Marie Match

April 24, 2010

From Billy -
Glen Marie Plush Top reserve in a Cali King?

Hi Billy,
The Glen Marie is the Level 9 in the Reserve line for the Sealy PosturePedic mattresses. Our name for that model is Akerman.

S&F Monet’s Garden

April 23, 2010

From Laurie -
We just bought a Sterns & Foster (Monet’s Garden) mattress in firm. I’m wondering what you think of this mattress? I’m finding it too firm and considering trading it in for the “less firm” option. But curious about the overall quality and opinion on this particular Sterns & Foster.

Hi Laurie,
The Monet’s Garden is part of the Estate Collection made by Stearns & Foster. We do not carry the Estate Collection, we carry the Luxury Innerspring Collection. In terms of the quality, I would consider the model you purchased to be excellent.
In regards to comfort, that is just personal preference and the comfort you chose could take some time to get used to, or inevitably could be too hard for you. You could always add a topper to the mattress to soften it up a bit. I would try the new mattress out for at least a month before contemplating an exchange, unless you have a time constaint.

Stearns and Foster Blisswood

April 22, 2010

From Mark -
What is comparable to the Stearns and Foster Blisswood mattress on your web site?

Hi Mark,
The Blisswood is the same as our Wethersfield.
It comes in multiple comforts; Luxury Firm, Plush, and two different pillowtops.

Simmons NXG line information

April 21, 2010

From Jake -
I’m shopping for a super soft mattress, the softer the better. The Simmons Beautyrest NXG caught my attention. I noticed there’s 400 plush pillowtop and a 250 plush. The extra 1.5 inches of foam sound softer, and very comfortable for me and my wife. I weigh 185 lbs, we are both side (mostly) and back sleepers.

A few questions:

1. Are there known problems with pillowtops vs. non-pillowtops?

2. The Plush Foam on both beds is 1.5″. It appears the only difference is the NxG memory foam 1.5″ vs. 3″. Is the additional NxG memory foam going to increase softness/plush? What advantages does additional NxG memory foam provide?

The only other bed I compared is the Stearns & Foster Freedom Park Plush Pillowtop. The best bed I’ve had is a hard side waterbed.

Hi Jake,
The Simmons NXG line is a very good mattress line and is quickly becoming one of the most popular lines for Simmons. You were correct in your research, the only difference between the 250 Luxury Plush mattress and the 400 Luxury Plush Pillow Top mattress will be the additional NXG memory foam which will make the mattress a little softer and more plush feeling. There are not any issues that we have been made aware of in the NXG line as far as the pillow top models holding up less than a standard tight top model, but this is still a newer line, within the past year and a half or so, so there really hasn’t been enough time for Simmons to get the proper feedback. I did check on the S&F Freedom Park that you have tested and that is one of the highest end models that S&F offers in their Estate Collection. Currently, the Estate collection has not been released to online retailers and is strictly at brick and mortar retail stores, so we do not have a comparable mattress to that.
