Bending a Mattress

January 18, 2010

From Paul -

I live in a condo and have a king size bed. I am considering ordering King Simmons Beautyrest World Class Lusaka Visco Plush Pillowtop Mattress Set.

When I moved into the condo I had a King size bed.  In order to get the mattress up the stairs they had to bend it slightly.  Will this damage this mattress if I order it and have to do that to bring it in?  Will your delivery people do this?

Hi Paul,
The Simmons Beautyrest mattresses, with their individually pocketed coil, are able to be bent up to a 45 degree angle to accommodate doorways as well as adjustable foundations if that is the use they are being put on. Our drivers should have no problem getting the mattress into your condo provided that it will not require being bent more than 45 degrees.

Modus Nevis Dresser

January 17, 2010

From Marcelle -
Modus Nevis Dresser:
I have two questions regarding this item: 1) does it come fully assembled?
2) Is the back of the dresser made of the same wood and finish of the rest of the dresser or is it different?

Hi Marcelle,
The Modus Nevis dresser does come fully assembled and does not require any assembly by you. The back and sides and front are all made up of the same material and will look the same from all angles.

Natura select latex pillow

January 16, 2010

From Richard -
What can you tell me about the Natura select latex pillow? How big is it? Is it comfortable? I’ve never tried a latex pillow.

Hi Richard,
Following is the dimensions for the Natura Select Latex Pillow.
Pillow Dimensions:

* Standard: 22″ x 16″
* Queen: 26″ x 16″
* King: 31″ x 16″

Most of these pillows are designed as a medium feel, supportive yet soft for comfort, but comfort is a personal determination and everyone will find that the latex pillows feel differently to them.

Sealy Waterbrook Mattress Match

January 14, 2010

From David -
I’m looking for a Sealy Posturepedic Waterbrook Queen mattress set.

Hi David,
I have checked Costco’s website to make a match using the specifications of the Waterbrook mattress and unfortunately, we do not have an identical match. The closest match that we have is called the “Reserve” Hope Mills Plush. The difference is that our model does not use the extra 1″ of memory foam in the padding layers and only uses the 3-zone pressure relief inlay system comprised of Visco Memory Foam. Other than that one additional layer of foam that the Waterbrook has, the mattresses are identical.

Low profile mattresses

January 13, 2010

From Irene -
I am looking for a low profile mattress.
Preferrably a foam mattress.
But I’d truly would like it to be no higher then 7″. The mattress.

Do you have anything like that?
It’s for my mom who is old and short. I need her to be able to get out of bed.

Hi Irene,
In terms of a low profile mattress – there is very limited selection. You have to sacrifice comfort when you go to a very thin mattress – they are generally quite firm (hard).

You could look at these models;

http://www.us-mattress.com/simmons-beginnings-brilliant-dreams.html

http://www.us-mattress.com/slumber-time-evening-star-plush-rite.html

That is about it.
The height of each of these mattresses is listed on the product pages under “mattress height information”.

Serta Matching help

January 12, 2010

From William -
I like the Serta Crossover model name Calypso. It’s 532 coil encased super pillowtop. What is that on your site?

Hi William,
Unfortunately, Serta not only changes their model names from store to store with no available cross reference, they also change the specific models from region to region, so it is very difficult to get you the exact same mattress without the detailed specifications. The closest model that we will have in Serta that uses a 532 coil count and has foam encased edge support would be the Serta Perfect Sleeper Moon Mist Euro Top.

Sealy Monogram Hotel Mattress

January 11, 2010

From Kathleen -
Do you have the Sealy Monogram 800 series ultra plush Pillow top?

Hi Kathleen,
Unfortunately, that Monogram 800 is a hotel model and only available to hotels, not the normal consumer. I have checked the specs of that hotel
mattress and it appears as though the closest match that we will have is going to be the “Reserve” Hope Mills Ultra Plush Mattress.

Mattress for a hospital bed

January 10, 2010

From Vicki -
I am looking for a mattress for a patient confined to a hospital bed. He would like a “regular” mattress, possibly with a pillow top, that will bend with the hospital bed. Do you have any recommendations?

Hi Vicki,
When most people say “regular” they are typically referring to an inner coil spring mattress with foam padding layers rather than an all foam mattress. On adjustable foundations or hospital beds, there is only one style of inner coil spring mattresses that will work and that is the Simmons Beauty Rest Classic with an MSI index of 1. There are 6 different models of pillow top in that line but it seems as though the Bamako and Dakar are the 2 most popular models with the Bamako being slightly firmer overall.
