How to match a mattress

June 26, 2009

From Hannah -
I’m looking for a Stearns and Foster mattress set to replace my old model, “Hampton Limited”. I would like a king-size bed. Can you tell me which current model is comparable?

Hi Hannah,
Stearns and Foster creates different names for the same mattress from store to store in an effort to make shopping around difficult. I’m sure we carry the same model as the Hampton, I would just need some additional information on the mattress in order to match it up. The 3 pieces of information I need to match the name are the number of coils in the mattress, the mattress height without boxpsring, and whether the mattress contains any memory foam or latex. Your local retailer should have this information readily available. Once you are able to determine the above information, please give us a call at 1 800 455 1052, and our sales staff would be happy to assist you with a point by point comparison.

Simmons World Class Atkins Mattress

June 26, 2009

From William -
I have found a local Simmons mattress that I like and was wondering if you can tell me name of the same mattress that you carry. It is called Simmons World Class Atkins Super Pillow top.

Hi Sarah,
The Simmons World Class Atkins Super Pillowtop is identical to the Lusaka Super Pillowtop on our website

Mattress Only recommendation

June 25, 2009

From Gretchen -

My questions are as followed:
Can one purchase a mattress without a box spring? I am only in need of a mattress.

What do you recommend when someone says “they need a mattress that is between a medium to a firm” Not to hard, but will hold two people under the weight of 200 each?

Hi Gretchen,
We do offer mattresses without the purchase of a box spring, although we do not have these prices posted online. If you would like a quote, simply select a mattress from our website, and then give us a call at 1 800 455 1052 to obtain a mattress alone price quote.

If you are interested in a medium to firm mattress set, I would recommend going to the Simmons Beautyrest Plush Firm page on our website.

3/4 size mattress

June 25, 2009

From Sally -
I would like to purchase a ¾ size mattress/box spring set. I can’t figure out how much that will cost. Can you help me?

Hi Sally,
A 3/4 size mattress is no longer a standard size. Because of this you would have to order a custom size mattress which would start at $699 and go up to $1299 depending on the type of mattress you would want.

Golden Elegance vs Silver Dream

June 24, 2009

From Kathryn,
I have lied on the Golden Elegance comfort scale 10 S & F mattress. But I cannot find the Silver Dream comfort scale 9.5 to lie on. The bed is for me and I need a queen size. I guess my question is this: the price jump from the Silver Dream to the Golden is huge and I’m uncomfortable with the Golden Elegance price. BUT, I can’t find the Silver Dream to lie upon to test it. SUch a dilemna.

I love a mattress that feels as if I’m sleeping on a cloud, but yet knowing (with a mild sensory feel) that I am being “held up” or supported in the air. Will the Silver Dream S & F do it?

p.s. I have a bed in my guest room that is a sealy posturepedic Crown Jewel “Nurture.” It is a dream to sleep on. I have a queen pillow top (with latex etc) in my bedroom. The mattress is old and needs to go out the door, but even when brand new, it never “did” it for me as the bed in my guest room. Sealy does not make crown jewel anymore and I’ve tried their current lines, including the Eurolusterleaf which has the 3.5″ comfort plus latex, foam, etc. pillow top. But, it’s not right. I was much more cozy on the Golden S & F, but it’s pricepoint is a bit steep.

Hi Kathryn,
Yes the Silver dream will give you this feel. Typically a half point is un-noticeable to most customers. I myself have laid on both the Golden Elegance and the Silver dream and I have a hard time telling the difference between the two. If you have any other questions or would like to order feel free to contact us directly at 1-800-455-1052

Custom Size Mattress for Antique Bed

June 23, 2009

From Lana -

I am trying to find a bed set, mattress & springs, for an antique bed that I want to use.  It takes a 46 1/2″ x 75″ mattress. I am having a very difficult time finding one anywhere.  Do you have any in that size??

Hi Lana,

We do have a company that will make mattresses in custom sizes, and they are listed on our website under the heading “Mattresses” and then under “Custom Sizes.” They have 6 different comfort options and do take 10-12 weeks for delivery. You can order your custom size mattresses online or call us at 1-800-455-1052 for more information.

Simmons Beautyrest Bianca

June 23, 2009

From Jessica -
I like Sleepy’s Simmons Beautyrest Bianca Plush Firm. Do you have a comparable mattress?

Hi Jessica,
Is the Bianca Plush Firm a regular Beautyrest Classic?
If so, it is the same as our Cairo Plush Firm.

Mattress Exchange Information

June 23, 2009

From Mike -
Good Morning, What with the 100 day exchange on mattresses, if we had to return lets say for another mattress, what gurantee do we have that the mattress is brand new, never used? My fear is that the mattress sent to us would have been slept on for 98 days by an overweight person who never showers and sleeps with his flea infested dogs. We are considering doing business with you and are interested in the sealy reserve Hope Mills or the sealy signature greenhurst plush queen sized.

Hello Mike,
The brand new mattress you would be exchanging for is made to order for you – just like the first mattress you would have purchased. So the law tag would have a manufacturer’s date of just a week or two after you bought it and also would be sealed in a plastic bag with warranty info attached.

Stearns and Foster Plush Model Updated

June 23, 2009

From Susan -
Do you know what current bed would be comparable to my Stearns & Foster “Kingscourt Derryhill Plus” model, which was purchased new in the mid-1990s? Thanks for your help!

Hi Susan,
There would not be a current comparable model to the S & F mattress you have from the mid 90′s. The foam layers and coil system has changed.
If it is a Plush model – I can recommend any of the Stearns & Foster plush models located on our website.

Confusing Names

June 23, 2009

From Matt -

I am trying to shop for a new Simmons Beautyrest Classic queen bed, and based on what I have seen it will be plush, but though I haven’t seen one in person the plush-firm might be right. It seems like every retailer has their own specific version of the Beautyrest Classic. I even called Simmons and they said I have to get the information from the retailers!! What is with this? Your comparison chart is the only think like it I have been able to find, but even it does not include names I have seen at other stores and websites. So far I have seen these names: Bayval, Barton, Baron, Fernhook, Gabarone, Bamako

The Bamako is the only one on your chart, and I have note even seen the other ones are the chart elsewhere. Your prices look great on certain versions of these, but if I am going to buy online I need to have something to compare it to that I have actually tried out. Can someone help me sort this mess out?

Hi Matt,
As you are finding out, Simmons will create different names for different retailers for the same mattress. They call this “protecting the retaile,” but all it is designed to do is make you frustrated to the point of shopping with the first retailer you find. From the list of names you have below, we carry both the Bamako as well as the Gabarone by the same name. The Baron is the same as the Gabarone, but that was the only name I was able to cross-reference of those listed in your email. The best way for us to match what you tried locally to our site is by knowing the coil count, the mattress height without the box spring, as well as if the mattress uses any visco foam or latex. If you are able to obtain this info on the names that are still up in the air, I can use that to match them up as well. I hope this email helped answer your questions, but if you would like to speak with a member of our sales team, please feel free to give us a call at 1 800 455 1052.
