Sealy Hotel Mattress

May 14, 2009

From Carol in Tulalip, WA -
I am looking for a Sealy Posture Pedic 500 Queen, but don’t see it listed on your website. It is a hotel/motel mattress. How can I get one?

Hi Carol,
Hotel mattresses are made specifically for hotels and not available through regular mattress retailers. However, hotels carry a very basic line of Sealy Posturepedic mattresses. You could take a look at the Sealy Posturepedic Eaglewood or Stonesedge. They come in a variety of comforts depending on your personal preference:

Stonesedge Firm
Eaglewood Cushion Firm
Stonesedge Plush
Eaglewood Plush
Eaglewood Ultra Plush
Stonesedge Plush Euro Pillowtop
Eaglewood Plush Euro PillowTop

Sealy Seaview Pines

May 14, 2009

From Kimberly in Dallas, Texas -
I recently found a mattress at Mattress Firm by Sealy called Posturepedic Seaview Pines Plush. It’s in the reserve collection. Can you help me match it to one of yours since I would prefer to buy from you? I’m not sure if it’s the same bed as Hope Mills Plush or the Akerman Plush.

Hi Kimberly,
The Sealy Reserve Seaview Pines is identical to our Sealy Akerman Plush. I hope this answered your question, but if you would like to speak with a member of our staff, please feel free to give us a call by dialing 1-800-455-1052.

Mattress Indentations

May 12, 2009

From Larry -
In 2007 we replaced our old Rip Van Winkle mattress (after 30 yrs) with a new Stearns & Foster Daylesford mattress, California King size. The old mattress had developed hollows where we slept and we were waking up with back aches.

After less than two years our new Stearns & foster has developed the same hollows and we are again waking up with back aches.  MY wife one night slept with her head at the foot of the bed and didn’t have a back ache upon wakening.

Why would a top of the line mattress develop hollows in less than two years?

We had originally bought a Sealy but found the foam was so soft that if trying to get to the other side of the bed you had to climb over a mountain caused by the hollow left after lying on it for a short time, and it was too soft.  We bought the Stearns & foster as it was firmer and didn’t form such a deep hollow. We also bought new box springs with the mattress.

I really don’t want to spend another $1,200 for another new mattress, what can we do?

Hi Larry,
Indentations are common place in mattresses today.  Mattresses are designed to contour to the body and are not supposed to remain flat any longer.  By contouring to the body the mattress is providing better support kind of like a pair of shoes.  If the indentation is beyond 1.5″ inches deep though, the manufacturer can replace it under warranty.

If you believe it is deep enough to replace I would contact the retailer you purchased if from.  They can send someone out to do an inspection.  If that retailer is no longer in business you can contact Stearns and Foster directly at 1-866-233-3464.

Simmons Cresando

May 12, 2009

From Suzanne -
I’m trying to find the price on a bed not listed on your site. It’s a Simmons Beautyrest Do Not Disturb World Class Cresando. Can you help me?

Dear Suzanne,
I believe the mattress you are looking for is called “Lusaka” on our website.  The Lusaka is a World Class visco plush firm just like the Cresando.   You can click on the link to find all the specs and pricing you may need. If you have more questions, you can call us at 1-800-455-1052.

Sealy Trade Wind Resort Latex Mattress

May 12, 2009

From Ryan -
Can you match a mattress? I was wondering what would be comparable to the Sealy Trade Wind Resort Latex Mattress on your website? We were looking at an Ashley Furniture store and was wondering what the same would be in your models.

Hi Ryan,
Was the Sealy Trade Wind Resort Latex Mattress the “Ultra Plush” Comfort? If so, that is the same as our Sealy Springfree Latex Meadowcrest Ultra Plush on our website.

Mattress Measurements

May 11, 2009

From Talat in NJ -
I got my mattress yesterday.  And it seems that the Torrey’s peak Extra Firm which is supposed to be 9″ is only 7 1/2″. Is this a mistake?

Hi Talat,
When a mattress is measured, the manufacturer measures to the crown of the mattress.  They do not measure to the tape edge (major seam on bottom and top edges of the mattress).  Also there is a 1″ variance on mattress thickness.  This means that if the manufacturer lists a mattress as 9″ inches it can come to you anywhere between 8″ – 10″ inches thick.  I hope this explanation answers your concerns.

Amisco Marcia Bed

May 7, 2009

From Polly in Collorado Springs, CO -

I found this the Amisco Marcia Bed in a search I did on google and I like the low footboard on it but I don’t understand why it is called a canopy bed when there is no canopy?  Is that something extra you can buy for it? The pictures and options don’t mention a possible canopy to buy so I wanted to clarify.
Hi Polly,
Good Question! Yes, the Marcia Bed is available in 3 different configurations: Canopy Bed, Complete Bed, and Headboard Only.

Amsico’s Website doesn’t not offer a pic of the Canopy Bed either, but the pricing is different. So if you want the Complete Bed – which is shown in the pic – you need to make sure you do not order the Canopy Bed.

Love to hear good feeback!

May 7, 2009

From Pat and Gary -

We just want to thank you for your wonderful service and loads of info available in choosing our new mattress. Just received it yesterday. The crew was wonderful, competent and great personalities. I had to let you know, the reason we choose Sealy was a hotel stay. Well, last night was the best night sleep ever. We bought an upgrade from the hotel’s model and am not sorry. Thanks again, I do appreciate all info available. It helped us in choosing what we could afford and both of us like.

Pat and Gary,

We are very happy to hear that you are satisfied with your purchase, it is always nice to hear positive feedback.

Toddler Mattress Recommendations

May 7, 2009

From Serge -
I was hoping to get some guidance on a mattress for my 2 year old son. I am looking for a decent quality bed and am torn between the idea of firm vs. plush beds.  I have read on some posts saying for a young child’s spinal development that it should be a firm bed and was wondering if there was any truth to this?

I was looking at something like a Sealy euro-top type bed in a firm or plush. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Serge,

Yes, you should avoid getting a very soft, cushy mattress for a young child, like a Pillowtop or Euro Top. You can get a firm or plush. Plush is a neutral feel and would not hurt a child’s development in any way.

In the Sealy line-up, we recommend either the Sealy Eaglewood Plush or Cushion Firm for young children.

If you’d like to try a different brand or have other questions and want to speak to one of our experts for more recommendations, you can call us at 1-800-455-1052.
